Marc Walker Files for Office

DENVER, NC – Marc Walker, a career law enforcement veteran with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol while flanked by thirty or more supporters, officially filed as a candidate for Sheriff of Lincoln County on Tuesday afternoon with the Lincoln County Board of Elections.

“I am now an official candidate for Sheriff. I am humbled by your support and thank you for being here. Glenda and I treasure your willingness to help,” Walker said to supporters in the hallway outside of the Board of Elections.

“Together, we can make a meaningful change in the direction in which our local law enforcement is headed. We will bring back the public trust by transforming the Sheriff’s Department into an organization that we can all be proud of and one that puts the public’s interest first, not politics.”

Marc Walker is the fourth person to file in the race for Sheriff of Lincoln County. Walker is the second Republican to file for the office and will now compete in the May 4th, 2010 Republican primary.

“It’s time for a fresh look at how we do the people’s business with regards to law enforcement. As an outsider with the right education and law enforcement training, I think we offer the right vehicle to move away from the bad policies and bad politics of the past at the Sheriff’s Office. “
